overtown \oh-vur-'town\ n - Used to describe any principal settlement which is separated from you by a river; "We went overtown for some ice-cream." The Saint John River effectively cuts Carleton County in two, therefore many settlements exist on either bank, with only one side possessing stores, restaurants, employment centres, etc. The term is especially common in Florenceville and Woodstock.
